The Copley Scientific Service Contract

Introduction

Copley Scientific offers a comprehensive range of service contract options, which are tailored to our customers needs.

The following section describes in detail the service options that we offer to our customers as standard. These are designed to give our customers the highest levels of confidence and value for money, whilst allowing a high level of flexibility.

Copley Scientific have a skilled team of engineers and technicians, who are trained on the complete range of Copley Scientific products and also similar related products that are in use by our customers. Products that can be covered by our service contract need to be discussed between both parties first.

The Copley Scientific Service Contract can be designed to cover on-site or in-house calibration and routine maintenance services.

Our Services

Many items of scientific equipment rely on accurate and reproducible operation or measurement. In most cases Copley Scientific can offer a range of calibration and routine maintenance services, to ensure that your equipment is regularly maintained and calibrated to a traceable standard (Details of standards and traceability are explained below).

Standard Calibration and Maintenance Service

The standard calibration and maintenance service has been designed to provide fast and efficient calibration and routine maintenance of equipment at a very competitive price.

As part of the standard calibration and maintenance service it is the responsibility of the customer to package and return the equipment to the Copley Scientific Service Department before the service date.

The equipment will then undergo calibration and routine maintenance by the Copley Scientific Service Department before being returned to the customer. This service may also be necessary in cases where equipment cannot be serviced on-site.

Copley Scientific can provide this service on a 6 or 12 monthly basis within any agreed period, as requested by our customers and as necessary for the equipment to be serviced.

This service includes:

  • Labour
  • Calibration materials
  • Routine maintenance materials
    (Note: This does not include major spare parts)
  • Calibration certificate
  • Storage of calibration certificate and service records at Copley Scientific

On-Site Calibration and Maintenance Service

The on-site calibration and maintenance service offers that little bit more for those customers who demand an on-site service, particularly for equipment that is in constant use and is heavily relied upon.

This service ensures the same high standards of attention as the standard service, but with reduced equipment downtime. In this case a Copley Scientific Service Engineer will visit the customer's site and perform the calibration and routine maintenance at the equipment location, avoiding the removal of any equipment from the customer's site.

However this service is not always possible for all equipment types and is very much dependant on the calibration and routine maintenance requirements.

Copley Scientific can provide this service on a 6 or 12 monthly basis within any agreed period, as requested by our customers and as necessary for the equipment to be serviced.

This service includes:

  • Travel expenses
  • Accomodation expenses (if required)
  • Labour
  • Calibration materials
  • Routine maintenance materials
    (Note: This does not include spare parts)
  • Calibration certificate
  • Storage of calibration certificate and service records at Copley Scientific

 

Repair Service

Whilst Copley Scientific does not offer any specific repair contracts, we do guarantee a rapid response on notification of any instrument breakdown. This is subject to inspection by a Copley Scientific Service Engineer and agreement with the customer as to the action to be taken. Where possible a Copley Scientific Service Engineer will effect the repair on-site. Otherwise the equipment will be returned or brought by courier to the Copley Scientific Service Department for immediate repair. Charges for this service are promptly quoted on an ad hoc basis.

Service Engineers

Copley Scientific Service Engineers are trained to a high standard and are very knowledgeable in the equipment that we supply. In many cases the service engineers work very closely with the design engineers in product development and have a great deal of experience in dealing with customer feedback.

Also, as a distributor for some well-respected international product lines our service engineers regularly receive comprehensive training from the original equipment manufacturers.

With certain specialised products or parts our service engineers may use reputable sub-contractors with whom we have many years experience, to perform specialist maintenance or calibration work on our behalf.

Calibration Instrumentation

All instrumentation used by our service engineers for critical calibration of equipment is certified to a traceable standard.

Such instruments are calibrated by, or traceable to, an accredited UKAS calibration house in the UK. Such calibration houses encompass all the relevant requirements of EN and ISO.

Certificates for the instruments used to calibrate the customer's equipment are available for viewing on request.
