Breathing Simulators

Representative breathing patterns should be employed during inhaler testing that characterise the age and condition of the patients to be treated (paediatric to geriatric, mild to severe impairment of the lungs).
The Copley range of Breathing Simulators are designed to generate an inhalation and/or exhalation profile that mimics that of a human subject and have become routinely used in orally inhaled product testing to replace existing constant flow conditions with breathing profiles more representative of conditions in vivo.

BRS 1100 - Breathing Simulator

The BRS 1100 is microprocessor controlled instrument designed specifically for generating neonatal, infant, child and adult breathing patterns required for dose uniformity testing of nebulisers in accordance with ISO 27427:2013. It can also be used to generate the profiles required in USP <1602> for testing ‘Spacers and Valve Holding Chambers used with Inhalation Aerosols’. The unit can also be used in place of a standard vacuum pump with a cascade impactor and a Mixing Inlet to form a simple and inexpensive system for APSD studies.
