28 May 2013; Nottingham, UK<\/u><\/b>: Copley Scientific is delighted to be sponsoring Inhalation Asia 2013 (26-28 June, 2013, Hong Kong), a new, non-commercial conference that will bring together researchers and industry experts from across the region who are working in the field of orally inhaled and nasal drug product (OINDP) development. Mark Copley, Sales Director for Copley Scientific is also an invited speaker at the affiliated Particle Design Industrialization (PDI) Science workshop on Pharmaceutical Aerosols, which will run on 24 and 25 June, just ahead of the conference. Both events are hosted by the Department of Pharmacology and Pharmacy at the University of Hong Kong.<\/p>\n

The PDI Science Pharmaceutical Aerosols workshop brings together a collection of world-leading experts to provide an introduction to the technical basics of developing inhaled pharmaceutical products for those relatively new to the area. Mark Copley\u2019s presentation is entitled \u201cCompendial in vitro methods for Uniformity of Delivered Dose and Aerodynamic Particle Size Measurement (impactors and impingers)\u201d and will provide a practical overview of the tests used to establish the delivered dose uniformity and aerodynamic particle size for OINDPs. Differences in the testing strategies for different OINDPs \u2013 dry powder inhalers, metered dose inhalers, nebulisers and nasal sprays \u2013 will be an important focus.<\/p>\n

Across Asia rising levels of air pollution are triggering a dramatic increase in pulmonary disease creating demand for OINDPs. This demand is, in turn, driving an upsurge in research activity in the field. Inhalation Asia aims to provide an opportunity for people who work on pulmonary and intranasal drug delivery to network with one another and showcase their research and services. By fostering links between inhalation professionals it aims to promote the advancement of respiratory R&D activities across Asia.<\/p>\n
